I love it when I get the "your scans are ready" emails from Richard Photo Lab! I've been waiting on scans from a couple different film bodies I have been testing. The ones I was most excited/anxious to see were from my Pentax 645 Medium Format sunset shots.
I have seen the sun set in many places in and out of the U.S. However, the sunsets we have here in California are second to none. Sometimes we get what my wife and kids call "Cotton Candy" sunsets. Fluffy clouds with hues of Purple and Pink fill the sky. However, our regular (non-cotton-candy) sunsets in my opinion are just amazing. Golden sky like no ones business. The sun rises and sets behind the mountains here in the Santa Clarita Valley (SCV).
So with Pentax in hand (or case that is) I hiked up through the hills here in the SCV and waited for that special time of the day. The wait was worth it. I love the results. For those that don't know the Pentax 645 is very much a manual beast of a camera. These were shot in manual mode and metered with a Minolta Flash Meter IV (old) spot meter with a 5 the 5 degree spot attachment.
